The Suspect: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Debi Enker The Age (Australia) The thriller keeps ratcheting up the stakes as the plot rockets along, taking unexpected twists and surprising turns. Rated: 3/5 Apr 4, 2024 Full Review The Suspect: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Brad Newsome Sydney Morning Herald This supposed psychological thriller series is painfully grating from the outset, mainly because no character behaves like a real person. Oct 6, 2022 Full Review The Suspect: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Louis Chilton Independent (UK) This is, after all, completely frivolous entertainment. It is the froth that’s been scraped from the surface of other, better crime dramas. God help me, though -- it’s suckered me in. Rated: 3/5 Sep 2, 2022 Full Review The Suspect: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Alberto Carlos Espinof ... Quite an entertaining and solvent thriller. It is somewhat more straightforward than it seems with all the twists, which, is appreciated. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3/5 Feb 3, 2023 Full Review The Suspect: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Alison Lanier Pajiba I was reared on PBS Masterpiece/Mystery, and it taught me well. So when I say this is one of the worst I’ve seen, believe me, I come with receipts. Nov 8, 2022 Full Review The Suspect: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) I’d like to believe the use of Parkinson’s was an innovative way of raising awareness of the condition, rather than just another wheeling out of that tired old cliche, the disabled villain, whose outward flaws signify their inner turmoil. Farah R While the premise and acting were good, this psychological thriller suffers from poor execution and predictable twists. Rated 3.5/5 Stars • Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/07/23 Full Review Marianna K This show really tests the limits of plausability. It was ok to watch with twists and turns to keep you interested, but it was totally silly and required a lot of suspension of disbelief. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/25/23 Full Review d w Discloser: have not read the books so can't compare it to that experience. The plotline in the series will keep you suspense for a fair amount. When main character return to his roots those episodes were the best in terms of writing. The acting was top rate. Cinematography 5 stars, as were costumes. Hair 5 stars ( the beard alone deserved that) . Lighting and interiors thoroughly well done throughout! The production/crew team cared on this set and it showed. The end, I still had questions. More than a few. Twists and turns are great but some felt not as tight as they needed to be, the writing team has to keep track of them. Intentional for a second season? The very end, a bit heavy handed in the graphic nature of describing past events. It felt gratuitous as they had established the why in prior episode which was more than enough..and an uneasy to watch considering there was a child actor present. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review B C This show was entertaining. But, the plumber was easy to figure out. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/06/22 Full Review susan e I absolutely loved this series. Yes, many bits were predictable, picking up glimpses of Marcella and that series with Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant (didn't seem guilty but was he guilty), but it caught me at a moment when after watching quite a few films that I gave up on I found the opening was galvanizing, the cinematography was really fine and I liked all the characters, thought the casting was terrific. I did not recognize Aidan Turner at first but I loved his performance. I did not mind that some ideas in the plot were obvious and overplayed. We can all use a little soothing, in-the-groove predictability these days. It had a shine and enthusiasm and naïveté all at once. Loved it. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review patricia p Aidan Turner did an excellent job playing the main character. The plot is not something that will blow your mind if you're used to watching this genre, but it's an entertaining watch overall.
